Explanation

Both the Old Testament and Jesus himself prophesied that he would die for us and that he would rise again.

This fulfillment of prophesy is one of the reasons we should believe the gospel. The prophesies give us confidence that Jesus was the messiah promised by God to the Israelites.

The earliest prophesy of a promised deliverer who would die in our place was given to Adam and Eve shortly after they sinned. Jesus’ death was prophesied almost since humans started rebelling.
