This is an interesting prayer. It seems to be saying that there were people in the world who belonged to God and God gave those people to Jesus. What made these people God’s? We know from other things Jesus said that everyone who believes in Jesus has eternal life. And that is what Jesus gives to those God gave to Him. Does this mean that the people who were God’s and who God gave to Jesus believed in God and that belief is now transitioning to (or growing to include) Jesus?
