When observing what the text says, mark up the text. Highlight key words, draw icons around works related to time, God, etc. Underline, use color, and otherwise mark up the text to make it easier when reviewing the passage to see what you have seen. The point isn’t to make your Bible look interesting, but to give you a practical and function way to make patterns more visible.
